Abstract
An article on PortTango's bimonthly events at the North Star Music Cafe on Munjoy Hill in Portland. The group encourages and promotes Argentine tango as a social activity. Many groups have gravitated to the welcoming cafe space, and co-owners Kim Anderson and Anna Maria Tocci say their intent was to let the community define what the space would be. The cafe has a dedicated stage and customers create a "listening room" for regular musical events by their respectful silence.
