Abstract

A painting by Lewiston-born artist Marsden Hartley was confiscated by Soviet troops in 1945 and restored to its rightful owner in 2008. "Lighthouse" (1915) broke the world record for an American Modernist work when it was sold for $6.31 million at a Christie's New York auction to an anonymous bidder.
