Abstract

Margaret Wise Brown, who summered in Maine, published more than 100 children's books, including "The Runaway Bunny," before dying suddenly in 1952, at age 42. The only house she ever owned was "The Only House," an abandoned quarrymaster's cottage on Vinalhaven she bought in 1943.
