Abstract

An article about the planned creation of a First Amendment museum in Guy Gannett's former mansion in Augusta that is located next to the Blaine House. Built by William Howard Gannett as a wedding present for his son, Guy, the mansion was sold by the Gannetts when they moved to Cape Elizabeth in 1956 and most recently served as the home of the State Planning Office. Includes a brief interview about the project with the acting director of the Bureau of General Services.
