Abstract

Harry Truman's presidential yacht, the Williamsburg, is currently languishing in La Spezia, Italy and in need of a new home. The yacht was originally built at Bath Iron Works in 1930 for Hugh J. Chisholm, a co-founder of International Paper Company. It is still possible to preserve the yacht but it would be very costly. The other two large presidential yachts, the USS Sequoia and USS Potomac, have been successfully restored. Includes details about the yacht's previous owners.
