A favorable review of the book "Deering: A Social and Architectural History" written by William David Barry and the late Patricia McGraw Anderson. Highlights several facts about Deering's history from the book including the emergence of a neighborhood that briefly became a city before being annexed by Portland in 1898, local business leaders James Deering and Captain J.B.
