Abstract

"Letter from the editor." Each European Littleaf Linden tree on Baxter Boulevard in Portland is a memorial to a soldier or sailor from Portland lost during World War I. The trees were donated by the American Legion starting in 1921, and a list associating each tree with a soldier is kept at the Portland Parks and Recreation Department.
