Abstract

Insider's guide to OpSail 2000. Over 300,000 additional visitors are coming to the Maine coast this summer to view a parade of tall ships. With a description and brief history of many of the vessels, including the U.S. Coast Guard ship Eagle, which was once a Nazi training vessel before it was confiscated by the Allies; the junk-rigged schooner Larinda, which sails from Boston; the topsail schooner California, which is the only West Coast vessel calling on Portland this summer; and others.
