Abstract

Profile of Autumn Aquino, the first elementary school child in Maine diagnosed with AIDS in 1991 at the age of 6. Now nearly 18 years-old and a senior at Hamden Academy, Autumn is committed to helping others learn about the virus through the AIDS network called Students for AIDS Facts, Education and Resources, or "SAFER." Autumn hopes to become a pediatric nurse and work in a children's hospital in the AIDS ward.
