Abstract

"chowder" piece on the Chapman Building, located at 477 Congress Street in Portland, also known as the "Time and Temperature Building." Erected in 1926, the building was one of the first in the nation to host an indoor mall. In 2003, the building was sold to Florida investor Jeff Cohen for $9.5 million. Cohen plans to renovate the structure and hopes to bring back a look evocative of the 1920s plaza.
