Abstract

"in tune" piece with an interview with DJ Popgirl 23, a.k.a. Jen Barnes, who is resident DJ at the Una Winebar in Portland. She describes the difference between club DJs, who mix records, and DJs who just present a song. She notes that raves have been forced underground in this country, whereas in Europe, clubs can stay open all night. The dance scene in Portland is rebounding after a many-year demise following the closure of Zootz.
