Abstract

A "personal list" of the 50 best films with a Maine connection, ranked in order of the author's preferences. First and second on the list are "Leave Her to Heaven, directed by John M. Stahl in 1945, written by Maine writer Ben Ames Williams, and partly shot in Maine; and the 1994 movie, The Shawshank Redemption, directed by Frank Darabont and based on the Stephen King novella, "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption."
