Abstract

Article on "Gulls, Ravens and a Vulture: The Ornithological Paintings of Jamie Wyeth," an exhibit at the Wyeth Center of the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland. Wyeth, who admits to an obsessive passion for birds, spends about half the year on Southern Island off Tenants Harbor. Pictures of Maine gulls take up much of the show. Wyeth says he sees birds as individuals, and considers his bird paintings as portraits. The exhibit runs until October 10. Adelson Galleries in New York will then show a portion of the paintings until November 26.
