Abstract

The state property tax circuitbreaker program, which provides partial refunds to Mainers hit hardest by high property taxes, is almost out of funds. A total of $24 million was distributed to 62,000 households through the program last year, and barely $9 million was appropriated for an anticipated 33,000 refunds this year. Details.
