Abstract

The Legislature's Education Committee on Friday postponed action on a proposal to incorporate a poverty index into the state education funding formula, which would tie the amount of state education funding a community receives to its ability to pay. A computer analysis of what communities would receive under the plan was distributed prior to the committee meeting, creating tensions between those who will gain by the plan and others. Details.
