The state Taxation Bureau has already mailed out some 155,000 tax refunds, more than three times the number mailed by this time last year -- The state expects to process 600,000 returns this year, and around 285,000 have already been filed -- The average refund so far this year is $302, compared with an average refund of $313 last year
