Abstract

The federal Economic Development Agency has invited the city of Lewiston to apply for a $18 million grant to renovate the Bates Mill, a complex of nine buildings spread over five acres in the downtown area -- If approved, the federal grant would be matched with $771,500 in local funds, with the money used to improve the mill complex in order to retain existing businesses, attract new businesses and develop the facility as a multi-use enterprise center
