Abstract

The Old Orchard Beach Town Council last night sponsored a lecture by Robert Goodman, a University of Massachusetts professor who studied the gambling industry. Goodman said that gambling takes money from the economy by encouraging people to gamble instead of spend money on consumer items. Most of the audience was in favor of gambling, despite Goodman's negative findings.
