Abstract

A report submitted to the National Center for Education Standards indicates that 30.7 percent of the faculty at the University of Maine at Orono are women, up from 12.8 percent when statistics were first compiled in 1975. Women make up 27 percent of associate professors and 48 percent of assistant professors, but only 9.4 percent of tenured professors.
