Abstract

Other than feeling a need to be present at the arson-murder trial of Virgil Smith who was recently found guilty of setting a Portland apartment house on fire, causing the death of Marjorie Salazar, 22, Marjorie's 10-month-old daughter, Kendra, and two other people, Cynthia Allen cannot explain why she attended all the trial proceedings in Lincoln County. Allen and her husband, Kenneth, were Marjorie Salazar's foster parents and they considered Kendra to be their grandchild.
