Federal Census Bureau projections show that Maine's population will become slightly more diverse between 1993 and 2020. It is projected that the state will have 1.4 million residents in 2020, with the black population increasing by 1,000, the Asian population increasing by 13,000 and the Hispanic population increasing by 12,000.
