Abstract

The Legislature's Judiciary Committee yesterday voted 11-0 to recommend that the state Senate confirm Public Safety Commissioner John R. Atwood for a Superior Court appointment. Atwood is the former district prosecutor and assistant attorney general whose 1991 nomination to the bench was postponed amid concerns that he was involved in a politically motivated investigation of District Attorney Janet T. Mills.
