Abstract

The Portland Newspapers has filed suit in Cumberland County Superior Court against David T. Smith, 32, of South Portland, a former cashier with the company. The company alleges that he embezzled more than $150,000 in cash reciepts, and is seeking to recover the money. A spokesman with the Portland police said the department is investigating an allegation of embezzlement, but refused to name a suspect. Details.
