Abstract

Work has been halted on the Peaks Island ferry pier. The builder was fired by the state and has filed for bankruptcy. The pier had been slated for completion last April, but a Department of Transportation (DOT) spokesman now says the $3.5 million project might not be completed until next spring. Work cannot be resumed until the DOT resolves matters with bankruptcy lawyers and the insurance company that holds the performance bonds on the contractor.
