Abstract

The Friends of Evergreen, a nonprofit group dedicated to preserving Portland's Evergreen Cemetery, wants to purchase the Stevens Homestead at 628 Stevens Avenue, one of only two houses still standing in front of the 239-acre cemetery. The group wants to remodel the home, which was built in 1767 and used as a tavern during the Revolutionary War. Details.
