Abstract

Profile of Rabbi Paul F. Cohen, 33, who succeeds Rabbi William L. Berkowitz as the spiritual leader of Congregation Bet Ha'am, Portland's only Reform Jewish congregation. The congregation, which has been meeting in the old Jewish Home for the Aged on North Street since it defaulted on the mortgage of its synagogue, recently signed a five-year lease with the city of South Portland on the former Alice Sawyer grade school.
