Abstract

In 1993, 85,000 children attended a Maine summer camp, around 50,000 of them from Maine. There are some 225 summer camps in the state, 150 of them overnight camps, and 90 of them are private, for-profit ventures. Ninety percent of the camps are accredited by the American Camping Association, and all of them are licensed by the Maine Board of Health. Details.
