Abstract

The Center for Behavioral Health, Inc. of Rhode Island yesterday opened the state's first methadone maintenance clinic at 400 Western Avenue in South Portland, and around 22 individuals addicted to heroin or other opiates showed up. Clinic workers took health histories and other information from the addicts, and the clinic will start dispensing methadone later this week. Habit Management Inc. of Boston is expected to open another clinic at 53 Darling Avenue in South Portland on Thursday. Details.
