Abstract

Philip Destefano Jr., 39, of Lewiston, the federal prisoner who escaped from the Cumberland County Jail last week, yesterday was captured in upstate New York. Federal marshals and New York state troopers arrested Destefano and his brother, Anthony Destefano, 20, of Old Orchard Beach, without incident. Destefano last Thursday removed rivets on a chain-link roof covering at the new $27 million jail, and was gone for five hours before the escape was discovered. Details.
