Abstract

The town of Cumberland will ask a Superior Court judge for the authority to place police chief Leon Planche on administrative leave, but will not exercise that option if the police department is functioning smoothly. Kenneth Cole III, the town's lawyer, said if Planche continues to run the department in a professional manner, as he has since returning to work, there will be no reason to put him on leave.
