Abstract

Robert J. Ridge, a guard at the Cumberland County Jail who has been blamed for this week's escape of two inmates, yesterday submitted his resignation. The escape occurred Wednesday night as Ridge accompanied an inmate who was taking out the trash, which contained another inmate hiding in the trash barrel. An almost identical escape occurred last year as Ridge escorted an inmate who was taking out the trash.
