Abstract

The Maine Department of Human Services says around 30 percent of Maine children under the age of two have not been vaccinated for one or more contagious diseases. Nationally, around 35 percent of children under age two lack critical immunization. State and public health officials run a public vaccine program for low-income individuals, while private health care providers administer 85 percent of all vaccinations in the state.
