Abstract

Windham, the only Greater Portland community operating an illegal transfer station, will stop accepting household waste if town councilors adopt a plan to close the town's waste facility. The state Department of Environmental Protection is giving Windham until September to close the unlicensed facility or face stiff monetary fines. Details.
