Abstract

Shaw Sprague of Solana Beach, Calif., grandson of the late millionaire Phineas W. Sprague of Cape Elizabeth, wants to subdivide 36 waterfront acres surrounding the family estate, known as Ram's Head. The proposals, which wound up in court after being blocked by the planning board, raise questions about the Sprague Corporation's plans for its extensive holdings, which include 2,216 acres in Cape Elizabeth and 236 acres in Scarborough.
