Abstract

The Legislature's Energy and Natural Resources Committee heard criticism from environmental groups, planners and state officials about a Maine Alliance proposal which would overhaul the way the state regulates development. Although most of those attending the hearing agreed that some change was necessary, many felt that the proposal by the pro-business group would create more government bureaucracy and end up costing the taxpayers more money.
