Abstract

Domestic automakers sued the Maine Department of Environmental Protection in federal court over regulations requiring new vehicles sold in Maine to meet strict California air emissions standards. The lawsuit, filed on behalf of the American Automobile Manufacturing Association by Portland lawyer Harold J. Friedman, contend that the regulations will force them to build special vehilces just for Maine, which would violate the federal Clean Air Act. Details.
