Abstract

The state Department of Education must cut $3.8 million to achieve a mandated 5 percent budget reduction, and plans to eliminate two associate commissioners and reduce the number of department divisions to achieve the reductions. Deputy Commission Polly Ward says the cuts will mean the loss of valuable people with a lot of experience.
