Abstract

Olga Zhondetskaya, 82, originally from Russia but now a resident of Westbrook, will celebrate the fifth anniversary of her arrival in the United States on December 7, 1993, which is also the day she is eligible to become a naturalized citizen. Since Zhondetskaya was recently diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer and is unlikely to live long enough to be naturalized, efforts are being made to find an administrative solution so she can become a citizen before she succumbs to cancer.
