Abstract

The Maine House of Representatives has decided not to consider a bill which would prohibit housing authorities from barring residents of housing units from possessing firearms, citing the fact that the Maine Superior Court will be considering the issue in the near future. The National Rifle Association has challenged the Portland Housing Authority's ban on firearms possession by its tenants.
