Abstract

A plan approved Wednesday by the New England Fishery Management Council will, if given final approval by the U.S. Department of Commerce, force New England fishermen to sharply reduce their catches of cod, haddock and flounder. The plan, aimed at allowing overfished species to rebuild, could result in hundreds of fishermen losing their permits. Details.
