Abstract

The state Department of Environmental Protection has issued a notice of violation to Regional Waste Systems Inc. because of leachate problems at the closed RWS landfill off Running Hill Road in northern Scarborough. An RWS official says steps are being taken to halt the seepage of rainwater out of the landfill and into a nearby tributary of Red Brook.
