Abstract

Although schools in Maine don't have it as bad as some urban schools in the nation's largest cities, there are reasons to remain concerned about the state's education system. Maine schools employ an average 92 staffers per 1,000 pupils, and spend $6,283 per student on a an annual basis, as opposed to national averages of 72 staffers per 1,000 students and $5,452 per student.
