Abstract

Since NCS Logistics of Scarborough backed out of a contract to deliver interlibrary loan books requested from the MaineCat database, several libraries, including the Portland Public Library, have turned to the postal service to deliver books. The library's interlibrary loan supervisor Rita Gorham advised patrons to search and request interlibrary loan books through the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC), a 20,000-library database that relies on the mail, not vehicle delivery. The state is searching for a new delivery service.
