Abstract

Great Northern Paper Co. announced that it will donate conservation easements on 78 miles of shoreland on Chesuncook and Ripogenus lakes as part of an effort to relicense its hydroelectric projects on the West Bank of the Penobscot River. The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proposed that the company protect a 200-foot strip along 150 miles of shoreline along Ambajejus, Pemadumcook, Ripogenus and Chesuncook, all of which are affected by the dams.
