Abstract

Republican members of the House of Representatives voted 36-5 in favor of submitting an order to remove House Speaker John L. Martin as presiding officer and to hold a new election for the post. The vote came after lawmakers in many areas of Maine reported public opinion running nearly 10-1 against Martin.
