Abstract

Rockland has experienced something of a revival in recent years, and the city's commercial space is at least 85 percent occupied. The busy harbor is home to five marinas and as many restaurants, and Friendship Sloop Days has moved to Rockland from Boothbay Harbor. Although the jobless rate, at 4.5 percent, is well below the state average, nearly half the city's 8,000 residents are low-income, and poverty remains a reality. Details.
