Louis Sprague of Dedham was the financial backer of Body Magic of Ellsworth, a spa that offered full-body massages, until the Ellsworth City Council legilsated the establishment out of existence. He purchased a used school bus, converted it so it held massage tables and other amenities, named it "Tiffany, the Magic Bus," and parked it on his property. The town passed an ordinance and Sprague was ordered to discontinue full-body massages, and now state representative Edward Povich is sponsoring legislation that would effectively ban hand-release massage. Donald Bennett of Brooks wants to open up Fantasies Plus in Searsport, but must overcome local opposition to the proposal. Details, related article.
