Abstract

The Maine Arts Commission is restructuring the way it funds school arts programs, pending approval at a March 21 meeting. Schools that seldom receive money for long-term residencies will get funds at least every three years, while those that have grown accustomed to receiving funds won't receive any except every three years. The plan is scheduled to begin in 1997 with a $50,000 pilot program in Rangeley, Lewiston-Auburn and Hancock County. Maine Touring Artists will be eliminated should the proposal be passed. Details.
