Abstract

Profiles of four of Maine's prominent women lawyers. Pamela Knowles Lawrason of Cumberland Center, a former prosecutor in the York County district attorney's office, maintains a general practice with an emphasis on domestic and family law. Marianne McGettigan of the Portland law firm of Verrill & Dana is chief lobbyist for the Major League Baseball Players Association. Vendean Vafiades, chief deputy attorney general for Maine from 1991-1994, is legal counsel for the University of Maine System. Martha Gaythwaite, managing partner at the Portland law firm of Friedman & Babcok, has represented citizen groups in battles across Maine.
