Abstract

Skowhegan, which worked hard to land a Wal-Mart in town, has learned that two other department stores are now leaving. Ames and K-mart are shutting down operations in the town, eliminating more than 80 jobs. Skowhegan plans to establish a site on the World Wide Web and a loan program in an attempt to attract businesses to the vacant 120,000 square feet of retail space.
